This webinar series, by Dr. Justin Sempsrott, MD,FAAEM, who is the Medical Director- West Valley Medical Center Emergency Department, Executive Director-Lifeguards Without Borders, Medical Director-International Surf Lifesaving Association and the Medical Director- Starguard Elite

It is broken down into smaller segments that can viewed over several sessions and is formatted to be viewed on a mobile. Many agencies are showing it for their in-service or incorporating it into their annual or new hire training. 

This is a review of Drowning and the care of the Drowning Victim. The objectives of this course are:

1- Discuss the history of drowning and it's care.
2- Describe the Drowning chain of survival
3- Differentiate drowning from water rescue (non-drowning) patients.
4- Describe the pathophysiology of the drowning patient.
5- Describe the basic and advanced care of the droning patient

This course has 8 lessons made up of short videos, discussion, summative and formative knowledge checks and activities. It includes case discussions and videos of actual victims. This content may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Register to view now.

In recognition of World Drowning Prevention Day on July 25, the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona is calling for urgent attention to this preventable heartbreak. “Drowning is a silent and swift tragedy that can occur in a matter of seconds,” says Jay Arthur, DPCA president. “With the right knowledge and precautions, we can significantly reduce these numbers and save lives.
